![]() V Collection 9 (VC 9) includes Analog Lab V and adds four new instruments, as well as providing full updates of a few other instruments, really significant updates (and you can keep the previous versions!). This enables varying parameters while the instruments are playing resulting in the same smooth variation of the resulting sounds as with the original gear. I used a mainframe computer to model things like a single amplifier with a few dozen components, and it took ten minutes for it to process and print out a list of gain and phase responses – these V Collection models process signals in real-time and model circuitry dozens to hundreds of times more complex than I modelled on that IBM mainframe. Having actually used circuit modelling myself, many years ago, I am extremely impressed with what Arturia have accomplished. These do not use samples of sounds from those instruments, but emulate the circuitry of the originals to mimic their sound generating properties (except the acoustic pianos which use “physical” modelling to create their sounds, rather than circuit modelling). ![]() The Arturia V Collection is a tribute to the classic synthesizers, samplers and keyboards of the past 60 years or so, including the Hammond B3 (introduced in 1955), several pianos, and Moog, Yamaha, Roland, Korg and other models from the early years of electronic instruments. ![]() ![]() See V Collection 8 review below for more details on other instruments. And this time they have added a couple “non-vintage” sound modules that don’t fit the “V” mindset, but are welcome nonetheless. Once again Arturia have updated their bundle of “vintage” keyboards, which includes analogue and digital synths, samplers, acoustic and electric pianos, and organs, with an update to the Analog Lab that makes it aware of the new instruments. ![]() Then pens / stylii / stylusesįirstly, both devices have passive styluses, which is great – you never need to charge them, they don't need to be docked periodically, they don't ever have Bluetooth issues or interference (well, magnets might mess with them, but they'd mess with the devices as well). The fact usage as an e-reader is considered secondary to the writer part does not really improve this, who is going to carry multiple e-ink devices around!? The writing experienceīoth devices are primarily built to replace paper in every workflow from printing, reading, signing to drawing and journaling – and as such have some texture on the screens and come with a stylus. I think e-book DRM is not something a lot of end users will appreciate learning about when they can't read a book they want to (even though I hate DRM with a passion – and would rather pay extra to have DRM-free if given the choice). I also bought my wife an RM2 – and she uses it happily for note taking and reading – but I do obtain e-books for it on her behalf, as the whole DRM-free thing is not something she's particularly understanding about, she previously used a Kindle so it is just frustrating. I am still using both devices, and occasionally wanting to read a book I cannot get DRM-Free (yes I know stripping it is possible), or wanting to use the device in the dark does mean that, as I am lucky enough to own both, I probably will keep using them both. You get an 8 core, full-Android running device that is the size of an A4 page, you can read in dark environments (and change the colour temperature to an orange night light), you can open DRM protected e-books via apps, use it as an external e-ink monitor and even watch YouTube if you really want. The Lumi on the other hand, is big, bold and backlit (actually front-lit, but that doesn't alliterate). You trade flexibility and power for form factor and a very custom UX, and you do get to join their pretty cool cult of devotees. The tl dr of it all is that the RM2 is kind of like the Apple of the e-writer world – simple (too much so for many), slick and very much built to a vision. I have been meaning to write a review of these two fascinating e-writer devices since I received them both at the end of last year, but I kept putting it off because I never felt sure how to conclude such a review. ![]() If an organization produces an OpenJDK build that complies with the entirely TCK, this build may be described as "compatible with Java SE". Certification is performed by the Java Community Process (JCP), which provides a Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK). In practical terms, there is only one set of source code for the JDK. However, along with this news, how are JDK builds available? Will they be free or paid? Before answering this, it's important to understand what a "valid" JDK for distribution actually means. The community made up of the Java Champions also spoke about it, explaining the changes in detail here. In addition, it has changed the way support for the versions will be offered, providing only support for LTS versions. Recently (or not so much), Oracle announced that it will change the way Java evolves, adopting the "Release Train" to launch new versions. ![]() ![]() The Spam Blacklist Checker queries the following using the provided domain name or IP address to see if there are any matching results:Īll of these lists use different data sets and methods for identifying problematic senders, so a domain name/IP address may appear on some, but not all lists. Similarly, when you format your hard drive (especially when you use the Quick Format option), Windows deletes that hidden index but doesn’t overwrite existing files until you start storing new data.
